Background and Practice

Matthew Mackey is an attorney with Mackey Law Group and a recent graduate of the University of Miami School of Law. A triplet and fifth-generation Bradenton native, Matt has literally grown up surrounded by the legal profession — his parents, Catherine and Peter Mackey, founded the firm in 1991, the same year Matt was born.

That family connection to the law, and to Bradenton specifically, shapes the way Matt approaches his work. He brings a personal investment in the community alongside the formal legal training and practical experience he developed during law school.

During his time at the University of Miami, Matt completed a federal judicial internship that gave him direct exposure to how courts evaluate legal arguments and weigh evidence. He also clerked at a Miami firm specializing in real estate, tax, and complex commercial litigation — experience that directly informs his work at Mackey Law Group. He was additionally a member of the Judge A. Jay Cristol Bankruptcy Pro Bono Assistance Clinic, reflecting a commitment to public service alongside his professional development.

Matt's practice at the firm focuses on real estate, commercial transactions, and litigation. He brings fresh legal training combined with the guidance and mentorship of one of Bradenton's most experienced civil law families.
